Plum rust
A common summer fungus: yellow spots on top, orange pustules underneath, early leaf fall.
How to recognise
- Turn spotted leaves over: rust forms powdery orange-to-brown pustules underneath.
- Check whether the most affected leaves drop early.
What to do
- Collect and dispose of fallen leaves (not in the compost).
- Water at the base without wetting the foliage.
Prevent
- A well-aired tree dries faster and resists better.
